ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It affects a person’s ability to pay attention, control impulses, and maintain focus. It is characterised by a persistent pattern of inattention and/ or hyperactivity-impulsivity that affects with functioning or development.

School and Work:

ADHD often makes it hard to concentrate, affecting academic or job performance. Disorganisation can lead to missed deadlines and cluttered workspaces. Impulsivity might cause interruptions or impulsive decisions. Inconsistent performance and procrastination are common due to difficulty initiating tasks.

Emotional Well-being:

Struggles with performance can lead to low self-esteem. Frustration and stress arise from managing responsibilities and expectations. Heightened sensitivity to criticism may result in emotional reactions. Difficulty connecting with others may lead to feelings of loneliness.

Daily Functioning:

Disorganisation extends to daily tasks like responsibilities. managing finances or keeping track of belongings. Poor time management leads to chronic lateness and feeling overwhelmed.

Speak to a Doctor or a mental health professional

They will then look at person’s medical history and behaviours

They will then go do a medical exam and be observed to asses the person’ behaviours.

The doctor or mental health professional will then decide whether the person has ADHD or not.
